TomTom GO XXX World HD Traffic, the perfect active holder
with the use of HD Traffic:

Problem
description: I want a perfect active holder for my TomTom go 930 World HD
Traffic and be able to use the HD traffic option.
If you take a
look at this site: http://www.gpsshop.nl/accessoire/51715/3353/tomtom-go-930-world-hd-traffic.html
you will notice that you can’t use any of the active holders in combination
with “HD Traffic” (at least not without altering them!).
When you buy
the TomTom go 930 World HD Traffic (this is the PND), you will find in the box a:
Desk dock Windscreen mount HD
Traffic™-receiver/car-charger

· And other not to this article related items.
So why
shouldn’t we use the default “Desk dock” as a active car holder and use the
default “HD Traffic™-receiver/car-charger” as receiver and connect the two
cables to each other!

For this purpose you can use a “USB Adaptor A (Female) to
mini USB (Female)” from for instance Expansys.nl

So now I have
a perfect active holder (the one that came in the box) and taped it to my dash
with double sided tape (so I can remove it later without leaving marks).

And I am still
able to use TomTom HD Traffic!
Another nice
issue is that I have hidden the “HD Traffic™-receiver/car-charger” beneath the
dashboard and connected it with permanent 12 volt! So no more cable or car
chargers (HD Traffic™-receiver/car-charger) around in the sight of the car
(better against burglars).
This is working
like a charm!
Note:
·
Vibrations
from the car are the same as via the “Windscreen mount” so that shouldn’t be a
problem, also the bottom of the “Desk dock” is made from rubber which absorbs
vibrations;
·
The
“TomTom go 930 World HD Traffic” remains nice and steady in the holder while
driving, even on rough roads.
·
This
solution also works for the: TomTom GO 520 , GO 520 T, GO 720, GO 720 T, GO
730, GO 730 Traffic, GO 920, GO 920 T, GO 930 Traffic, ONE - 3rd edition, ONE
30 series (new), ONE XL, XL 30 series (new), GO 930 * if a default “Docking
desk” is available.
